Meliá Hotels International has announced the opening of the Meliá Makassar in Indonesia and the Meliá Yangon Hotel in Myanmar, confirming its strong commitment to its expansion strategy in the Asia Pacific region.
Meliá Makassar in Indonesia is now the sixth hotel operated by the company in the country (with another 10 hotels in the process of opening in the pipeline), affirming its strong commitment to this popular vacation destination.
Makassar is the capital of South Sulawesi province and the largest city on the island of Sulawesi, with a population of 1.5 million people and the dominant commercial center and transportation hub in eastern Indonesia. The hotel is ideally located just 25 minutes from Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport and just a five minute walk from the main shopping and business areas.
This four-star hotel provides 135 newly built rooms equipped with a full range of facilities and the latest technology. Some of the rooms also include “The Level” service, which raises the quality of a hotel stay to the highest levels of demand. The Meliá Makassar has been designed to meet the most exquisite international standards, and its magnificent facilities also house several meeting rooms, a pool, spa and restaurants. Also of note is The Society rooftop bar, which is quickly expected to become a landmark venue in the city.
The Meliá Yangon is the first hotel operated by the company in the country and a strategic project for its expanding Asia Pacific portfolio. Meliá Hotels International enters Myanmar’s market with its first hotel in Yangon, a city known as the Garden City of the East. Yangon is the country’s largest city and remains the biggest commercial center and main transit hub of the country, as well as home to historical colonial buildings and an impressive landscape.
The hotel is strategically located on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road, only a 15 minutes drive to the city center as well as to Yangon International Airport and a 10 minutes drive to the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda. Yangon’s largest and latest shopping mall, Myanmar Plaza, is directly connected to the hotel.
Overlooking the magnificent scenic spot of the beautiful Inya Lake, the hotel provides 430 spacious, modern and inviting rooms starting from 48m2, all furnished with state-of-the-art amenities. Guests at The Level, the Meliá’s signature executive floor, enjoy a personalized service with exquisite privileges, such as exclusive access to The Level Lounge, on the top floor with stunning 360 degrees views of the city and Inya Lake.
More than 2,000m2 of convention area with various sizes of ballrooms and function rooms equipped with the latest technology will hold any type of events, from small meeting to state level conferences, including banquets and weddings.
Its facilities will also include an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center and a soon-to-open 1,800m2 world class YHI spa that will offer treatments such as hydro-massage, Vichy and jet showers, jacuzzi and a sauna.
