Food Review: SanQi Four Seasonsand#039; Lazy BFF Brunch

p/p pFrom the looks of it, weekend brunches have become popular ways to spend lazy afternoons in the city. Many fine dining restaurants are on a spree of designing special brunch menus, offering unlimited food and drinks to please the palates of Mumbaiandrsquo;s gourmands. One amongst these is SanQi, an Asian restaurant nestled inside the five star property of Four Seasons, Mumbai. SanQi is hosting a unique brunch concept called the andlsquo;Chandon BFF Brunchandrsquo;, a brunch that is adding a chic spin to the usual weekend brunches. Here's my experience at the brunch with my BFF. andnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pSan-Qi has earned a reputation that speaks of opulence. Hearing a lot about this popular Saturday brunch fuelled my neverending quest for sumptuous food, and I was led us to Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai one breezy Saturday afternoon. Brimming with the excitement of trying the choicest of sparkling wines, lip-smacking desserts, and an array of delicious international cuisines, I stepped into San-Qi with my BFF. What welcomed us seemed literally like an endless delectable spread of Pan-Asian small plates; and there is more to it.Here's an account of my fun monsoon afternoon experiencing the Chandon BFF Brunch.andnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pThe Asian focused Sunday brunch at SanQi was spread over two levels and seven counters with Cantonese, Thai, Japanese, and Indian cuisines paired with refreshing unlimited pours of Chandon Rose. Wasting no time, my BFF and I made ourselves comfortable near a glass wall that kept us connected with spirit of monsoon that had embraced the city. A server soon poured us a generous glass of the Chandon Rose Brut. With a swirl of the wine our tastebuds were tickled with anticipation to experiment, an eagerness that compelled us to call for the Berry Burst cocktail from the menu./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pBy the time our cocktail arrived, we walked up to the small plates spread to binge on some mouth-watering appetisers. We picked the pani puri shots, prawn with quinoa, bell pepper sushi, chicken bruschetta and a multigrain samosa. While the pani puri shots, bruschetta, sushi and samosa stood true to their looksandmdash;deliciousandmdash;what surprised us was the mildly-spiced succulent prawn paired with quinoa. While we were relishing these mouth-watering small bites, our cocktail arrived in a mason jarandmdash;pure cherry red goodness.andnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pOur Asian food trail continued to the main course that included teppan grilled vegetables with teriyaki sauce, stir fry lo mein noodles with Asian vegetables and the bhuna gosht paired with a plate of assorted Indian breads. The teriyaki sauce worked wonders with the grilled vegetables, a burst of flavours (sweety and sour) and textures in the mouth. The noodles were not out of the box but the bhuna gosht was something I would vouch for in terms of tastes. The tender juicy lamb that just melted in our mouth was cooked to perfection in onion gravy and blended well with the spongy Indian flatbreads.andnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pThe server soon directed us to the dessert section, a hidden room beside the entrance that offered an assortment of sugary surprises. The dessert spread was one colourful table with macaroons, chocolate mousse, glazed donuts, blueberry cheesecake and more. Our dessert choices reflected our obsession for pink; we picked the donut with pink glaze and the pink macaroons, all that we needed to end the brunch on a sweet note./p pandnbsp;/p pemThe Chandon BFF Brunch is available every Saturday at SanQi, Four Seasons, Mumbai at INR 2,500 per person (plus taxes).andnbsp;/em/p pandnbsp;/p pemstrongMore On andgt;andgt; a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.luxpresso.com/lifestyle/food-drink" target="_blank"Food andamp; Drink/a/strong/em/p
