Interview: Laurent Lecamp of Carl F. Bucherer Shares His Brand Vision

p/p pandnbsp;/p pAn entrepreneur, author, autodidact multi- linguist, and now the executive Vice President of Sales at Carl F. Bucherer, Laurent Lecamp seems to have done it all. And he isn't nearly done! Here, he talks to us about his vision for the Swiss brand as well as his personal goals./p pbr /Frenchman Laurent Lecamp has led a curious existence. Of course, you don't need to take our word for it. While in his 20s, he drew up a list outlining all that he wanted to accomplish in his life. From setting up a watch company to writing a book and learning new languages, the list encompassed his dreams and ambitions, all of which he wanted to realise as quickly as possible. "I'm convinced that life is short and if I don't do these things now, I won't have time to do them later. The more I do, the more time I find to do different things," he declares. This interview isn't par for the course, but then again, Lecamp is unlike many. He is unafraid to admit that he was socially rejected as a child. He states, "I was very sensitive to nature and life around me. I still am. If I was running, I'd suddenly stop to embrace a tree. This made me appear different from others." The lack of understanding from his peers drove him to succeed./p pandnbsp;/p pCoupled with his natural curiosity and love for learning, he has successfully accomplished all three of the aforementioned aspirations./p pandnbsp;/p pLecamp's energy is infectious; it makes you believe that you too could juggle a career while teaching yourself a new language. For instance, seven years ago, he decided to learn Russian and gave himself a deadline by which to do so. "I gave myself 10 years to speak the language. So after seven years, it's fairly good; I still have three more to go." His most recent accomplishment is the publishing of his book Independent Luxury, which he co-authored with Jonas Hoffmann. This is especially telling in light of the fact that he was appointed Executive Vice President of Sales at the Lucerne- based Carl F. Bucherer in 2014. He says, "For me, writing the book is a sign of my achievement; after all, it takes time and energy to do so." And that's not all! He adds, "I even run the marathon. There is a rule in life: action, reaction. If you act, life will react by giving back. If you take risks, it will pay back; I'm certain. There is energy in the world and it's for people who are trying to do things," he states emphatically, drawing attention to his illustrious track record./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pWhat about India, we ask. How is India responding to his contribution? Lecamp states, "Firstly, I'm lucky because we have the right partner, Ethos. Secondly, there is a vision for the brand. We prefer to move step by step and execute our ideas with one key partner. It means that we must take the time to build the business."/p pandnbsp;/p pLike with every other aspect in his life, Lecamp is taking his time to understand the country and its culture. He says, "Every time I visit, I try to meet different people and visit new places to form my own opinions." And what are his opinions? "India is very interesting to me, because it's completely different from what we know about it. I like it because it's constantly moving. I'm very impressed by the level of service in luxury places and the knowledge about key products. Here, I'm referring to the watches and garments categories."/p pandnbsp;/p pWhile he's happy to talk numbers, it's his passion for his work that shines through. It's evident that he's proud to be associated with this particular Swiss brand. "Carl F. Bucherer is one of the oldest brands in Switzerland. Since 1888, the same family is still managing not just 50 per cent, but 100 per cent of the company. So there is an emotional connection."/p pandnbsp;/p pLecamp cites this emotional connection as the primary reason for why people are drawn to the brand. "For instance, if one has to choose a partner, there are many prospects available. But they have to find the one. And when one finds that person, the attraction is often hard to explain. It's usually something emotional. And this, for me, is the key."/p pandnbsp;/p pstrongMore On andgt;andgt; a href="http://www.luxpresso.com/watches" target="_blank"Watches/a/strong/p
