Ritz-Carlton Montreal offers degrees of discounts to spur chilly travel plans

Ritz-Carlton Montreal is heating up bookings this winter with a seasonal room package that saves guests money the lower the temperature drops.

For “The Colder the Better,” guests automatically receive a percentage off their bill based on the degrees below 0 Celsius it is outside at check-in, including wind chill. Temperatures in Montreal average around minus 10 degrees, helping to give incentive to consumers to brave the cold.

How low can it go?
Ritz-Carlton’s offer is available for fireplace suites, and comes with other amenities to warm up guests, including a latte, hot chocolate or tea to be enjoyed fireside and treats such as chocolate flavored marshmallows and Speculoos cookies.

Completing the indoor experience are cocktails and breakfast at Maison Boulud, the hotel’s restaurant serving French cuisine.

Prices begin at about $535 at current exchange rate for single occupancy, but the more frigid the temperature, the lower the room rate will become. For instance, a minus 25 Celsius temperature will give guests a 25 percent discount.

Getting consumers through the winter, the package will be available until April 30.

As the temperature drops, a number of hotels are working to ensure the comfort of their guests with special cold weather services.

For one, New York hotel The Royalton is encouraging guests to cozy up next to the fire with a new in-room amenity package.

The Royalton, located in Midtown Manhattan, boasts the most fireplaces in any New York hotel, giving way to the property’s latest in-room option, the Fireplace Concierge service. In-room amenities are attractive to guests who are looking for unique experiences during their hotel stays, a trend that is on pace to continue (see story).
