Food Review: Hakkasan Mumbai Welcomes the Chinese New Year on a Scrumptious Note

p/p pandnbsp;/p pApart from being counted amongst the elitist restaurants in the city, strongHakkasan/strongandmdash;a London-origin Chinese restaurant chainandmdash;-is known around the country for its discerning guest list and lip-smacking Michelin Star creations. Following the tradition of celebrating the strongChinese New Year/strong, the restaurant, this year, has unveiled a limited edition menu created by Head strongChef Stanley Lum Wah Cheok/strong. While the invitation to relish this menu was nothing short of an honour, the set-up and the hospitality only further overwhelmed us, enough to pull us back for a second time soon!/p pandnbsp;/p pDivided in two, the menu is separate from the andAgrave; la carte, making it easier for regulars and first timers to explore and pick what they want to binge on. Since we were present to celebrate the Chinese New Year, we opted for the set menu that looked wholesome and delicious, to say the least! The evening began with emthe seafood clear soup with prawns and scallops/em, and the cocktails em9 Hou/em was served with a metal monkey suspended from the stirrer. Considering it is the year of the monkey, the restaurant ensured it channelled the spirit of the animal not only with its cocktails, but with little details, like the one we spotted on the menu card; subtle yet observable. Going back to the clear soup, it was simply amazing, we certainly couldnandrsquo;t have asked for a better way to begin our gastronomic expedition. Following the soup were the small eats that included emLychee with taro ring in spicy curry sauce/em and emlamb with vegetable and pine nut/em. The sweet-tangy flavour of the lychee blended beautifully with the spicy curry sauce, introducing our palate to some mind-boggling Asian flavours patronised globally./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p p style="text-align: center;"em9 Hou cocktail andamp; Seafood soup/em/p pandnbsp;/p pWhile we did expect a little more from the emwok fried chicken in fragrant chilli sauce /emand emthe stir-fry ramen noodles in spicy sauce/em, everything was soon made up for with emthe baked silver cod in miso sauce/em. The cod + miso sauce was enough to satiate us, making it to our top recommendation from the menu./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p p style="text-align: center;"emSilver Cod in Miso Sauce/em/p pandnbsp;/p pHakkasan, world over, is known for its hospitality and warmth, when it comes to serving their guests, and the dessert pretty much explained their reputation. Even though they couldnandrsquo;t serve us the dessert from the New Year menu, they promptly substituted it with their renowned chocolate ball ice cream plate./p pandnbsp;/p pWith a dessert like that, the night sure ended on a theatrical note for us./p pandnbsp;/p pIn true Chinese style, keeping with the traditions, Hakkasan gives guests an experience of the Chinese tradition of wishing luck and health, ending the meal with a red envelope and the Monkey coin, a token of good fortune./p pandnbsp;/p pemThe Chinese New Year signature menu is priced at INR 2,888/- all taxes inclusive per person./em/p pandnbsp;/p pemP.S. The cocktails served from the set menu will be separately charged post the first drink./em/p pandnbsp;/p pstrongMore On andgt;andgt; a href="http://www.luxpresso.com/lifestyle/food-drink" target="_blank"Food andamp; Drink/a/strong/p
