Cartier Travel With Style Concours D'elegance Returns With its 5th Edition

pThe fifth edition of the prestigious Cartier Travel With Style Concours Dandrsquo;elegance 2017 (CTWSCD), an exhibit Indiaandrsquo;s rare automotive heritage, was held yesterday at Hyderabadandrsquo;s Taj Falaknuma Palace. Hosted by Mr. Guillaume Alix, Regional Managing Director, Cartier Middle East, India andamp; Africa, the exhibit saw a line-up of vintage, best-preserved automobiles curated by Indian automotive historian and expert, Manvendra Singh of Barwani. Hereandrsquo;s a round-up of the best from the day./p pFeaturing on the same list as the Villa Dandrsquo;Este Concorsa Dandrsquo;Eleganza and the Pebble Beach Concours Dandrsquo;Elandeacute;gance, Cartier Travel With Style Concours Dandrsquo;elegance is a bi-annual unique vintage car exhibit and competition that started in India all the way back in 2009. An exhibit that celebrates the auto heritage of India, CTWSCD showcases cars and motorcycles that date back to the era of the Maharajas, all the way up to post-independence India. While the first international Concours dandrsquo;Elandeacute;gance in India was hosted at the Royal Western India Turf Club Mumbai, its fourth edition was held in New Delhi in 2015./p pThis edition at the Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad saw Princess Esra of Hyderabad, opening the doors to her family seat. In fact, it was Princess Esra who was the force behind the restoration of this historic palace that is today touted as one of the best hotels in the world. She has been a patron and exhibitor at the CTWSCD since its inception.andnbsp;/p pThis yearandrsquo;s exhibit saw a total of 112 rare classic automobiles; of these 73 fell under eight distinctive classes, and 39 classified as the best-preserved motorcycles in three signature classes. They belonged to the esteemed stables of Indian royals, patrons and noted private collectors. The 1914 Wolsley 30/40 HP, owned by Shivardhan Kanoria, was declared as the best car of the show, while the 1947 Indian Chief, owned by Arjun Oberoi, was declared the best motorcycle of the show.andnbsp;/p pCartier Travel With Style has also recently affiliated with FIVA (Fandeacute;dandeacute;ration Internationale des Vandeacute;hicules Anciens) World Motoring Heritage Year Program with support from the UNESCO. The highlight of the day was the presentation of the special FIVA Preservation trophy to 1921 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost owned by Yuvraj Kesri Singh.andnbsp;/p pHereandrsquo;s a look at some of the best automobiles from the exhibit.andnbsp;/p
