Scotch whisky-maker Johnnie Walker is enticing travelers to stop in for a libation at its latest Johnnie Walker Houses, found in the departures lounge of two of Asia’s busiest airports.

Johnnie Walker House is a network of tasting and experiential centers found in duty free zones within busy airports and popular city destinations. The newest Johnnie Walker Houses, launched by Diageo Global Travel, Johnnie Walker’s distributor, have been opened at the Beijing Capital International Airport in China and South Korea’s Incheon International Airport.

Give the world a taste
Johnnie Walker House allows international travelers to experience the Scottish Highlands through tasting, education and examples of heritage. While at a Johnnie Walker House location, travelers are encouraged to sit and relax with a tasting, purchase limited-editions and learn about the Scotch whisky-making process.

At the Beijing Capital International Airport’s Johnnie Walker House connoisseurs and novice Scotch whisky drinkers can visit the whisky scent bar where the various layers, flavors and aromas of the spirit can be explored. The space is found within the T3 Departure Terminal.

The space also includes a “whisky constellation” wall featuring an index of Single Malt Scotch whiskies.

The Johnnie Walker House in Beijing also marks the first co-branded space between Johnnie Walker and Shui Jing Fang, a Chinese distiller of a white spirit, baijiu. Beijing’s Johnnie Walker House is also the largest within the retail concept’s portfolio.

In South Korea, Johnnie Walker House will open in two terminals within the Incheon International Airport, one in the East Main and the second in the Concourse Main. The Johnnie Walker House openings inside the airport follow the introduction of the Johnnie Walker House Seoul, which opened in 2013 in Cheongdam, a luxury retail district.

As with Johnnie Walker House Beijing, the South Korean concept will offer a number of limited-editions such as the Johnnie Walker House Zodiac Collection and the Johnnie Walker House Exclusive Collection. Tasting opportunities will also be available.

While Johnnie Walker House has a well-rounded presence in Asia, the concept has also recently been expanded in the European market.

In May, Scotch whisky-maker Johnnie Walker opened the first European location of Johnnie Walker House.

Johnnie Walker House’s new outpost opened in Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport in collaboration with the Diageo Global Travel, Johnnie Walker’s distributor, and Schiphol Airport Retail. The space was designed to inspire travelers by bringing to life the history and pioneering spirit of the Johnnie Walker brand (see story).
