For the 15th edition of “Jardins, Jardin”, running from May 31 to June 5, the Parisian fashion house will present a vast garden of 200 square metres at the Tuileries in Paris. The horticultural and landscaping event was created by the landscape architects Olivier Riols and Pierre-Alexandre Risser.
The theme for this year’s event is “Nature’s Experiences”. Chanel, known for using grandiose natural settings for its runway shows, will create, according to Le Point, “a garden reminiscent of the town of Grasse and its fields of flowers,” which are used in Chanel’s own perfumes. The garden will include “May roses, Jasmin, Geranium Rosat, and Irises from Florence.”
The creation of the Chanel garden has been entrusted to the landscape gardener Olivier Riols and it will involve a number of plants which need to have their flowering either delayed or advanced so that they are all in bloom for the event. The garden will not, therefore, be in sync with the natural cycles of nature, but that will be part of its effect.
Chanel will display its own world through its garden but there will many others to compete with. The landscape architect Pierre-Alexandre Risser will be dedicating his garden at the event to Paul Bocuse, the master of cooking and kitchen fragrances who passed away in January.
