pWhen one thinks of the word rally, the immediate picture the mind conjures up is of a race involving fast cars. But when it comes to the Verve Rallyandmdash;this mental imagery stands nowhere. Founded in 2016 by London-based entrepreneurs Darshana and Marcus Ubl, this "rally" is a luxury, lifestyle-focused travel concept that takes both men and women on a European adventure. Two Mumbai-based ladies, Nandini Singh and Ghazalah Moloobhoy, attended this rally in 2016, and they enjoyed the experience so much, they convinced the founders to introduce the concept to the Indian market too. In a conversation with Luxpresso, the Rally's co-founder Darshana Ubl delves deeper into the concept. Read on./p pandnbsp;/p pOpening up on the reasons that led to the founding of this concept, Ubl says, andldquo;There is something beautiful about a performance car on open roads with stunning scenery surrounding it. Iandrsquo;ve always loved going on long drives, having my favourite playlist on; and it has to be done with a good group of people. When it came to enjoying my Maserati GTS in a busy city, I found myself stuck at the back of a bus or driving bumper to bumper at 30kms/hour. Not the experience we had in mind when we went to buy the car!andrdquo; They decided to go on a road trip to Europe but also wanted a company of like-minded people on it. For 2017, they are offering two routes: a five-day French Palaces and Chateaux rally and a nine-day, six-country European Adventure which takes one through Lake Como, Cannes, Monaco, Lucerne, Brugges, etc. andldquo;We have carefully chosen the locations based on popularity, research, and keeping in mind the overall experience,andrdquo; says Ubl./p pandnbsp;/p pThe trip involves an average driving time of four-five hours a day with halts for lunch, dinners, and private explorations. Participants are left to drive at their own pace so that they can enjoy the beautiful vistas of Europe./p pandnbsp;/p pGiving us a first-hand experience of being on this trip, Nandini Singh (who attended it last year) says, andldquo;I went on a nine-day, mind-expanding, mind-blowing journey! We packed in seven countries across Europe and took in the countryside, seaside, lakeside, the Swiss Alps and the city. We drove, we flew, we sailed; we made some amazing friends and had so many OMG moments. The spirit of fun, adventure and gratitude enveloped us, and truly, there was never a dull moment!andrdquo;/p pandnbsp;/p pThe Verve Rally intends to be a carbon-neutral trip balances its carbon footprints by planting trees across the globe in collaboration with UK-based Plant a Tree Foundation (PATT). Explaining this move, Ubl says, andldquo;With climate change becoming an increasingly global issue, planting trees is a good way to tackle its effects.
