Hermès Heads Downtown To Open A New Store In The Meatpacking District

Meatpacking District, a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Manhattan, is soon going to be home to Hermés store. The upcoming Gansevoort Street unit of the French luxury house will represent a new retail concept with latest technology features and a casual vibe that matches the neighborhood’s younger, tech-obsessed residents.

According to WWD, the store will have much more of a downtown feel, unlike the usual formal presentation seen uptown at the Hermès flagship on Madison Avenue. The high-end brand is all set to undertake more efforts to fit in the neighborhood, which is now a dynamic part of the city and continues to become more vibrant and energetic.

The three-level, 10,000-square-foot store at 46-48 Gansevoort Street will throw its doors open in spring 2019 to woo all the existing customers as well as new shoppers. Hermès Paris Inc. president and chief executive officer Robert Chavez also expects the store to attract other upscale retailers to the neighborhood.

The new flagship will emphasize on fragrance, scarves, enamel bracelets and silver jewelry that appeal to younger consumers. Chavez said that the store will carry all categories but there will be slight variation in the way of presentation as the assortment will represent woman and men equally.

Shoppers can already add the following to their 2019 shopping list – enamel Click-H bracelets for $600 to $990; hinged bracelets worth $440 to $750; women’s silk twill scarves for $395; men’s silk heavy twill ties worth $180, and men’s contemporary ties selling for $305.

Also a roof-top terrace offering a beautiful view has been planned to provide a setting for events.
