Metropolitan Museum of Art to Exhibit Works by Indian Artist YG Srimati

pThe Metropolitan Museum of Art will be hosting a retrospective exhibition of artworks by Indian artist YG Srimati. The exhibition called An Artist of Her Time: YG Srimati and the Indian Style will feature 25 watercolour paintings that will be on display from 15th December 2016. The works on display are curated by John Guy, MET's South and South-east Asian art curator./p pandnbsp;/p pArtist YG Srimati (1926-2007) was a painter born in Mysore and educated in Chennai. She studied graphics at the Art Student League in New York from 1964 to 1966. Srimati was trained in four traditional South Indian arts-voice, music, dance, and painting. She went on to become a popular painter, whose artworks were exhibited at the New York Public Library, the Smithsonian Institute, and the Library of Congress./p pandnbsp;/p pThe upcoming MET exhibition showcases the artist's perspective of Indian style.
