Hermès Foundation is hosting a new exhibition titled The Spirit of Bauhaus. With over 900 works that range from paintings and objects to furniture and sculptures, the show details the evolution of the arts movement since its inception by German architect Walter Gropius.
The exhibition is also more than just a chronicle of the Bauhaus School, showcasing as well the breadth of discovery, exploration and experimentation that the movement affords as the artisans aim to unify fine arts with craftsmanship. As Gropius once wrote, “Architects, sculptors, painters, we all must return to the crafts.” Expect to see masterpieces from Bauhaus masters such as Pierre Hardy, Josef Albers and Marcel Breuer.
The Spirit of Bauhaus runs until February 26 at Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.
