p/p pandnbsp;/p pWhat if your clothes were designed at a hardware store? This isn't our imagination. It holds true with the collection of Delhi-based designer Rimzim Dadu, who has launched a line of six 'metal' saris. Woven with thin steel wires, these will be available on a href="http://www.rimzimdadu.com/New-Collection.html" target="_blank"rimzimdadu.com/a along with the designerandrsquo;s fall-winter 16andrsquo; collection. The colour palette ranges from light gold and olive green to bright red and blue. A few drapes also come in colour blocked options like silver with pink, black with teal, and gold with black./p pandnbsp;/p pDadu is known for experimenting with unusual materials, and last year, her 'silicon' emjamdaani /emsari was added to the Victoria andamp; Albert Museum's collection. Since then, her avant-garde sensibility has gained immense popularity, with Sonam Kapoor sporting Dadu's teal metal sari at the Cannes Film Festival 2016 in March this year. andldquo;I normally experiment a lot with my collections. As I have never done Indian wear, I thought of converting my line of textile styles into something unique. That is when the idea of metal saris struck me.andrdquo; But is steel an ideal material? Is it not too stiff or heavy? andldquo; The metal is as thin as a strand of hair, and it is hand stitched together to form the surface of the sari empallu/em. The fabric formed out of it is soft and it gives one the feel of donning molten metal. It can look really structured or flowy, depending on how one drapes it.andrdquo;/p pandnbsp;/p pWhile the saris are not as light as chiffon ones, neither are they heavy like embroidered emzardozi /emdrapes either. Itandrsquo;s just the empallus /emthat feature metal wires, with the main body of the sari made either in jersey or silk crepe. andldquo; These saris are pretty easy to wear. One need not worry about picking an occasion; my saris can be worn even on an ordinary day, andrdquo; says Dadu. Proof? The saris can be dry cleaned easily, because the steel yarn is treated and coated with nylon. You could call them the saris of the future, but Dadu disagrees. "I design clothes which one can wear today."/p pandnbsp;/p pstrongMore On andgt;andgt; a href="http://www.luxpresso.com/style/fashion" target="_blank"Fashion/a/strong/p
