50 Years in Fashion: Bottega Venetaand#039;s Milanese Spectacle

p style="white-space: normal;"/p p style="white-space: normal;"andnbsp;/p p style="white-space: normal;"Bottega Venetaandrsquo;s recent Milan Fashion Week show at the iconic Accademia de Belle Arti di Brera was a celebration of the brandandrsquo;s golden jubilee and creative director Tomas Maierandrsquo;s 15 years at the brand's helm. And for the first time, both men's and women's collections were combined in one show, signalling Bottega Veneta's new calendar amid similar commitments made by other fashion houses like Gucci, Dsqaured2, Burberry and Vivienne Westwood .andnbsp;/p p style="white-space: normal;"andnbsp;/p p style="white-space: normal;"andldquo;I wanted to celebrate by staying true to the brand and the idea of private luxury that is all about the experience of [owning] our clothes, bags, shoes, and jewellery," said Maier after the show. andldquo; After 15 years I like looking back to what weandrsquo;ve been able to build and I canandrsquo;t be more proud of what weandrsquo;ve been able to achieve with the collaboration of all the people who constantly work for this company with incredible dedication and commitment. For this reason, I look at our future, imagining what weandrsquo;ll be able to create moving from here. I am honored of having led our story, and have the opportunity to continue leading it.andrdquo;/p p style="white-space: normal;"andnbsp;/p p style="white-space: normal;"Maier took charge of the brand in 2001 when it was acquired by the Gucci Group. andldquo;I believe the concept of luxury has remained the same, but when I joined the house it was losing its identity and roots. So I instituted our four cornerstones of outstanding craftsmanship, timeless yet innovative design, contemporary functionality and the highest quality materials. Once these principles had been defined, I went on to develop Bottega Veneta into a full-range luxury lifestyle brand, andrdquo; says Maier. It was in the same year that Maier completely let go of the brand's logo, and opted to build up Bottega Venetaandrsquo;s signature emintrecciato/em weave as the label's signature./p p style="white-space: normal;"andnbsp;/p p style="white-space: normal;"The collection presented at the Milan Fashion Week on 24 September was inspired by the '40s and '50s and featured leather detailing at the waist and collars. With an essentially beige and mauve palette, the collection was punctuated with trench coats, jackets, and dresses in bright pink, orange, yellow, and blue. Maier even pulled out 15 iconic bags from the archives (including a red emintrecciato/em clutch, which made its Hollywood debut in the 80sandrsquo; movie, emAmerican Gigolo/em). To recreate this moment, he invited the movieandrsquo;s lead actress, Lauren Hutton, to walk the ramp holding the clutch./p p style="white-space: normal;"andnbsp;/p p style="white-space: normal;"Hereandrsquo;s a sneak peek at the backstage from Bottega Venetaandrsquo;s SS17 show./p p style="white-space: normal;"andnbsp;/p p style="white-space: normal; text-align: center;"/p p style="white-space: normal; text-align: center;"emLauren Hutton poses with the redandnbsp;spanintrecciato/spanandnbsp;clutchandnbsp;/ememat the Bottega Veneta's SS'17 fashion show during Milan Fashion Week/em/p p style="white-space: normal;"andnbsp;/p p style="white-space: normal; text-align: center;"/p p style="text-align: center;"emModels pose backstage at the Bottega Veneta's SS'17 fashion show during Milan Fashion Week/em/p p style="text-align: center;"andnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p p style="text-align: center;"emModels pose backstage at the Bottega Veneta's SS'17 fashion show during Milan Fashion Week/em/p p style="white-space: normal;"andnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p p style="text-align: center;"emModels pose backstage at the Bottega Veneta's SS'17 fashion show during Milan Fashion Week/em/p p style="text-align: center;"andnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"em/em/p p style="text-align: center;"em/em/p p style="text-align: center;"emModel poses backstage at the Bottega Veneta's SS'17 fashion show during Milan Fashion Week/em/p pandnbsp;/p p style="white-space: normal;"strongMore On andgt;andgt; a href="http://www.luxpresso.com/style/fashion" target="_blank"Fashion/a/strong/p
