Mandarin Oriental, Milan is taking consumers out on excursions to experience the region’s autumn harvests firsthand.

The hotel is celebrating the season with two distinct packages, one focusing on wine tasting in the area and a second on truffle hunting. Today’s affluent guests are more inclined to seek out local experiences that take advantage of the region’s offerings, especially seasonal gastronomy.

Mandarin Oriental, Milan’s Wine Tasting in Franciacorta and Truffle Hunting in Alba packages are available Oct. 1 to Dec. 21.

In partnership with Mandarin Oriental, guests who book the wine tasting package will stay at L’Albereta, a five-star resort on Lake Iseo, an hour’s drive from Milan. The package includes a night at each hotel, with the third night’s stay being determined by the guest.

Guests will enjoy a one-day wine tasting tour at Franciacorta’s renowned wineries, Bellavista and Contadi Castaldi.

A daily buffet breakfast, a lunch at VistaLago Bistro at L’Abereta’s and dinners at Mandarin Oriental’s Seta and L’Albereta’s LeonFelice restaurants are also included.

Mandarin Oriental’s Truffle Hunting package brings consumers to Alba for a private guided tour to search for truffles. While on location, guests will enjoy a truffle-themed lunch in one of Alba’s local restaurants.

When back at Mandarin Oriental, Milan the guests will be treated to a truffle-themed menu at Seta restaurant, prepared by Michelin-starred chef Antonio Guida.

This particular package includes daily breakfast and a two-night stay at the Mandarin Oriental, Milan.

When it comes to culinary delicacies, white and black truffles are considered among the most coveted.

In 2014, London-based department store Harrods, for example, expanded its high-end culinary offerings with the introduction of a shop dedicated to whole truffles and truffle-infused dishes.

Located in Harrods’ storied Food Halls, The Truffle Shop includes starters, main courses and inventive desserts all available to-go. Often considered a luxury ingredient, a shop dedicated to truffles likely appeals to affluent consumers seeking out interesting delicacies within Harrods (see story).
