La Dolce Vita at Asilo's Sardinian Garden Party

p/p pWatching our steps on the dimly-lit staircase leading to the top-most floor of St Regis Mumbai, we made our way to Mumbaiandrsquo;s highest rooftop bar and restaurantandmdash;Asiloandmdash;for a dinner party of a different kind. What greeted us upon entering can be best explained as a scene straight out of the Mediterranean Island of Sardiniaandmdash;flowers in bloom and a blue sky resembling waterfronts. A friend and I were present to attend the second edition of Asiloandrsquo;s popular Getaway Series; wherein the restaurant serves a specially-designed menu focused on a particular part of the world. And after taking guests on a delicious trip to Mexico in the first edition, the restaurant was now all set to transport us to Italy./p pandnbsp;/p pLocated on the 38th floor of one of the cityandrsquo;s most luxurious hotelsandmdash;St Regis Mumbaiandmdash;Asilo, I was convinced, was designed to steal the hearts of visitors; the panoramic view of the city it offers is truly breathtaking, to say the least.andnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pWith excitement in our hearts and gourmet on our mind, we took our seats to set off on this trip to Sardinia. No sooner did we settle than a waiter arrived with lit candle, setting a romantic tone to the dinner. Speaking of the menu, it wasnandrsquo;t quite vast, (something we appreciated for a change); we were glad we would not have to regret missing out on anything./p pandnbsp;/p pThe Sardinian food expedition began with two refreshing drinksandmdash;the Capisco Breeza and Asiloandrsquo;s Eden Garden. While the former was a lightly spiced vodka-based drink with orange juice and bell pepper; the latter was a literal andlsquo;garden party in the mouthandrsquo;. Asiloandrsquo;s Eden Garden was a Mojito-style vodka-based drink finished with apple juice, green chillies and coriander./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pThe drinks were accompanied by three lip-smacking startersandmdash;the Caponata Bruschetta, Arancini Bites and the Four Cheese FlatBread. To start with, the Caponata Bruschetta, served on a fresh baguette, was a medley of roasted summer vegetables with complementary flavours and textures of goat cheese, pine nuts, homemade tomato jam, and balsamic vinegar. The Arancini Bites can be best explained as flavour bombs with the risotto, herbs, tomato confit, basil and red pepper aioli. But, of the three, what stole the show was the Four Cheese FlatBread topped with creamy goat cheese./p pandnbsp;/p pJust when we thought weandrsquo;d had enough cheese, the server got us a portion of Burrata with Charred Asparagus and Peperonata, a dish that looked like it was directly parcelled from Italy (with love, of course). This sumptuous delicacy was a generous portion of Burrataandmdash;a fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream. The creamy texture of the cheese blended very well with crunchy veggies./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pThe course was then followed by two mains, the Fusilli Napolitana and a Pan-Seared Scottish Salmon with Sicilian Greens. Of the two, the Fusilli Napolitana, as expected, tantalised our taste buds with its tangy and mildly cheesy flavours. The serving was garnished with pine nuts and fresh arugula, which added the finishing crunch to the pasta. Before I speak about the pan seared salmon, I would like to establish a little about my apprehensions about insufficiently cooked fish. To me, it is very important that the fish is cooked perfectly. I often treat a restaurantandrsquo;s claims about fish with scepticism. This time was no different.andnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pBut as I cut the salmon served to me, I was more than delighted to discover that the fish was seared to perfection./p pandnbsp;/p pThis Italian trail of deliciousness came to a sweet end with two of the menuandrsquo;s delectable desserts. The first one was the Limandoacute;ncello Cheesecake, a cheesecake portion with strong flavours of lemon. It was a dessert I wouldnandrsquo;t opt for on a normal day, as I personally prefer my desserts to be sweet with a dash of bitter but not tangy. My personal favourite here was the Tiramisu Martini which was the classic Italian Tiramisu, served in a rather interesting manner. The prominent flavour of coffee is what I enjoyed the most. And that brought a sweet end to our food trail. Until next time, buon appetito!/p pandnbsp;/p pemFood lovers can relish this special menu until 31st August, 2016./em/p pandnbsp;/p pstrongMore On andgt;andgt; a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.luxpresso.com/lifestyle/food-drink" target="_blank"Food andamp; Drink/a/strong/p
