Inside Miami’s Hipper than Hip EAST Hotel

The hottest place to be in Miami might not be in South Beach anymore. Brickell City Centre is now home to EAST, a new lifestyle hotel from the Swire brand (the first in the US!) that seamlessly blends the soul of Miami with a hip, New York City-eqsue vibe.

The Rooms:

EAST, Miami has 352 guest rooms, including eight suites and 89 residence suites ranging from 300 to 1,800 square feet. All of the contemporary designed interiors by Clodagh Design feature balconies with views of the Miami skyline and Biscayne Bay, floor-to-ceiling windows, walk-in rain showers, and complimentary Wi-Fi. The one-, two-, and three-bedroom residence suites also offer fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities, along with access to all hotel amenities and services.

The Hotspots:

Sugar has already picked up the status as one of the best rooftop bars in the city which serves Asian tapas and a cool Miami vibe. The hotel’s 20,000 square foot pool deck features four different types of pools including a hot tub, cold plunge, and spa pool and the expansive function space on the 38th and 39th floors provide versatile options for any gathering and showcase incredible views of the city.

The Food & Booze:

EAST, Miami is also home to Quinto La Huella, the first and only outpost of the famed Uruguayan Parador La Huella. The restaurant focuses on simple, fresh food prepared over a fiery hearth. The parrilla takes center stage on the 5th floor restaurant, with dining participants seated round the primal spectacle with music strumming in the background. A quote from Chef Nano – “the parrilla allows the quality and flavors of the ingredients to speak for themselves and it takes great focus to understand the timing and movement of each ingredient around the open fire.”

The Design:

Art is also a huge component for all EAST hotels and guests will see celebrated artwork and installations throughout EAST, Miami, courtesy of Indiewalls, an innovative art curating agency. Working closely with local and national artists, the design team hand-selected works of art including sculptures, paintings, and photographs to highlight Miami’s characteristics as a beautiful port town drenched in a palette of blues, yellows, whites, and ambers. Custom commissions, unique sculptures, and expertly framed prints combine to create an individualized collection that further defines EAST, Miami as a relaxing outpost for both entertainment and culture.

Also notable is the property’s Climate Ribbon, an architectural fixture located in the center of Brickell City Centre’s commercial sector, will use natural wind currents to cool the space without requiring the addition of cooling units. The hotel has also achieved LEED certification, citing resource efficiency by using less water and energy, as well as a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

The Cool Factor:

Within each room, guests will find the fruits of collaboration with both local and national technology, art, coffee, and design companies. In-room coffee services will include a tea maker and coffee machine by Panther Coffee, a Miami-based specialty coffee roaster. Cables, charging docks, and other technologically advanced amenities have been sourced from Native Union, an industry leader in the union of tech and aesthetics. Skin care and beauty products are from Australia-based Appelles Apothecary and Lab, and will feature specially blended shampoos, soaps, and lotions.

The goal of every Swire property is to give back to the community at large. Swire has signed on as the sole hotel corporate sponsor for the YoungArts Foundation, a Miami-based arts academy focused on the growth and development of young artists, whose notable alumni include Vanessa Williams, Nicki Minaj, and Viola Davis, amongst others. Brickell City Centre will also give back to the immediate neighborhood, offering transportation and economic improvements. The Miami Metro Mover station located within the Brickell City Centre complex, which was refurbished as part of the development, will give guests quick access to different ends of Miami, while giving locals easy access to the property’s myriad dining, shopping, and leisure amenities.

The ‘Hood:

Okay, so you’re not in the center of nightlife.  But the massive shopping center is perfect for those who want a taste of the luxe life, with five levels of shopping to explore. Luxury outlets like Saks Fifth Avenue, as well as Valentino, Audemars Piguet, Illesteva and recognized brands from South America fill the space, as well as more than 30 restaurants.
