Exclusive: Decoding the New-Age White Bride with Karleo's Karan Berry and Leon Vaz

p/p pandnbsp;/p pDesigner duo Karan Berry and Leon Vaz are best known for their stunning line of wedding gowns and exquisite accessories; a popularity that led to the creation of their fashion label, Karleo, back in March 2013. After creating a huge demand in the Middle East for their bridal pieces, this evening in Mumbai, the designers will launch their latest collection called andlsquo;White Symphonyandrsquo;, celebrating bridal wear created with colourful motifs that represent interfaith weddings.andnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pandldquo; With the idea of creating outfits for special occasions, the design philosophy at Karleo is that of contrastsandmdash;taking simple pieces of clothing, or elements from our day-to-day lives, and lending them an exclusive definition through rich textures, embroidery and detailing of various kinds, andrdquo; said Leon Vaz, who began his journey in fashion after earning a degree in fashion from New Delhi. Leon then interned with Indian names like Varun Sardana and Nitin Bal Chauhan and has also worked with major international labels like Valentino and Armani. Leonandrsquo;s vision for a career in fashion was to create clothes for special occasions a vision that introduced him to Karan Berry, who by then had acquired a post-graduate diploma in fashion and was working for Spykar Jeans. As apart from being a visual merchandiser and consultant for the menswear line at Spykar Jeans, Karan would also create bridal trousseau for women. His fondness for exploring a career in fashion got him into footwear designing, which led him to the London College of Fashion to pursue an Advanced Diploma in Cordwainers Footwear Design; he later launched AKA Bespoke, a custom footwear and accessory brand.andnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p p style="text-align: center;"emDesigners Leon Vaz andamp; Karan Berry of Karleo/em/p pandnbsp;/p pandldquo;Karleo for us is a seamless synchrony of our work and design principles, which involves us creating masterpieces with themes and inspirations, in collaboration with our strong network of craftsmen in India, andrdquo; says Karan. Their partnership led to the launch of Karleoandrsquo;s Bridal Studioandrsquo; that offers brides creative solutions, including clothing, accessories and styling. In fact, the duo broke stereotypes and focused on white brides, unlike the bridal market which thrives on Indian bridal trousseau. andnbsp;andldquo; The beauty of creating a white wedding gown is much more than working on Indian wedding clothes; there is a lot of intricate detailing required to make a white gown since we primarily play with just one colour.andrdquo;/p pandnbsp;/p pThough accounting for western wear, the gowns designed by Karan and Leon draw inspiration from a lot Indian elements, right from spices to zodiac signs. andnbsp; As a matter of fact, their upcoming collection represents an inter-marriage culture, featuring bird motifs that represent freedom. The colour palette for this collection is all about crimson, emerald, vermillion and black on stark white gowns, which indicates towards different faiths. andnbsp;Just like the brandandrsquo;s bespoke pieces for clients, this collection too began its journey on the storyboard, followed by sketching and mock samples, before being transformed into beautiful dreamy gowns and dresses.andnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pandldquo; The industry has changed quite a bit in terms of trials and experimentation of new styles. People are more open to wearing a gown these days, for at least one of their wedding events. And now that we present this new interpretation of inter-culture marriages through our designs, we are really excited to know what people think about it,andrdquo; sums up Karan./p pandnbsp;/p pstrongMore On andgt;andgt; a href="http://www.luxpresso.com/style/fashion" target="_blank"Fashion/a/strong/p
