The Met Museum to Exhibit Fine Rajput Paintings

pNew York's iconic Met Museum has in the past showcased one-of-a-kind masterpieces from across the globe. Now, this iconic venue displays the rich and glorious history of India with a special exhibit of paintings from India's Rajput courts./p pFeast your eyes on the artistic marvels from ancient India that depict episodes from Hindu poetic literature. Titled andlsquo;Divine Pleasures: Painting from India's Rajput Courts-The Kronos Collections', the exhibit will be divided into three major sections-Rajput and Rajasthan, early Pahari (Punjab Hills), and later Pahari. Mainly created for the royalty, these paintings have a religious and social theme to them. Painted on paper in opaque watercolour and ink, these have special gold and silver highlights./p pThe exhibit has over 100 paintings, most of which are from the Kronos Collection. Most works have been carefully curated by the family of Steven M. Kossak, a former curator at the Met's Department of Asian Art.
