Christie's to Auction a Rare First Edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

p/p pOriginally a mathematician and lecturer in Oxford, Lewis Caroll a.k.a Charles Dodgson was an introvert personality. But his true passion reflected in his interaction with children, in his stories full of fantasies, especially created for them. Caroll loved entertaining children, and it was one such interaction during which he met this little girl named Alice; a meeting that inspired him to pen down Aliceandrsquo;s Adventures in Wonderland, one of his most popular writings.br /br /On 16th June this year, British auctioneer Christieandrsquo;s will host a stand-alone auction of a rare first edition of the widely-admired book Aliceandrsquo;s Adventures in Wonderland published in 1865 in New York. The book is estimated to be sold between two and three million US dollars. br /br /This particular rare copy of the book is one of the 10 copies to have survived till date, covered in a red cloth. Only two out of the ten copies are privately-owned and in good condition, whereas the others are said to be heavily worn. This edition, till today, features its original binding, the binderandrsquo;s ticket and its title page, making it more desirable for collectors./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pbr /This 1865 Alice to be sold by Christieandrsquo;s is said to be the copy that Lewis Caroll gave his colleague in Oxford, George Kitchin, who later gave the book to his daughter Alexandra.
