‘America’s Richest, Self-Made Women’ 2016 top-sixty list

Forbes ‘America’s Richest, Self-Made Women’ top-sixty list, for the second year running, features several women in the fashion and beauty arenas for its 2016 edition.

The top scoring woman in fashion and retail was Doris Fisher, cofounder of Gap, ranked number three on the list, boasting a net worth of $2.4 billion. Forever 21 cofounder, Jin Sook Chang, came in at number nine on the list, with a net worth of $1.9 billion, said Forbes.

Other top 60 fashion and beauty industry female entrepreneurs include:

#17 Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx ($1 billion)
#19 Tory Burch ($750 million)
#22 Carolyn Rafaelian, founder of Alex and Ani ($700 million)
#31 Donna Karan ($450 million)
#34 Vera Wang ($420 million)
#43 Diane von Furstenberg ($340 million)
#49 Patricia Miller, founder of Vera Bradley ($300 million)
#53 Sophia Amoruso, founder of Nast Gal ($280 million)
#54 Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, cofounder of Vera Bradley ($270 million)
#57 Toni Ko, founder of NYX ($260 million)

Celebrities making the list, with ambassadorships or connections to fashion and beauty, include Kathy Ireland, at number 39 and a net worth of $360 million, and Jessica Alba, number 42 on the list with $340 million.

Diane Hendricks, owner of ABC Supply, is the richest self-made woman in America and took the number one spot. Hendricks’ estimated worth of $4.9 billion, beat out media mogul Oprah Winfrey, who came in second place, with a net worth of $3.1 billion.

To be eligible for the 2016 list, entrants must have a minimum net worth of $250 million.
