The Watergate Hotel in Washington reopens June 2016

Following a $125 million renovation, the Watergate Hotel in Washington DC is scheduled to open in June 2016. The hotel has been closed since 2007.

The hotel which is owned by Euro Capital Properties, controlled by the Cohen family, has been completely transformed by Ron Arad, with an interior that is described as having an “urban resort” feel. Euro Capital Properties also owns Hotel du Collectionneur in Paris.

While the exterior of the hotel remains unchanged, the interior has been almost completely redone. The renovation added two meeting spaces, a 7,000-square-foot grand ballroom, and a 1,800-square-foot junior ballroom. It doesn’t end there as the hotel now also includes a 350-person rooftop lounge, two dining rooms, whiskey bar, cigar lounge, four terraces, and a lobby bar. Originally, the hotel contained 251 rooms, but the number grew to 336 with, each room ranging from 400- to 650-square-feet.
