Six Senses Resort to open in Fiji

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has announced plans to expand into Fiji. The Six Senses Fiji resort will be located on Malolo island along 2,100 feet of private beachfront. The resort will boast 24 pool villas, varying in size from 800 square feet to 1,950 square feet. An additional 66 residential villas will be constructed on the west side of the island with panoramic views of the ocean or marina, while an onsite bar and restaurant will offer locally sourced cuisine.

A Six Senses Spa is also planned for the property—highlighting the brand’s multidimensional Six Sense Integrated Wellness program—along with a fitness center, club house, and kids’ center.

The upcoming resort will be entirely solar powered and the first microgrid in Fiji to use Tesla batteries. A worm-based septic system and water reservoirs will alleviate the need for a desalination plant. Reforestation will take place onsite to balance out the wood used during construction. The sustainable design will feature all LED lighting and entail various measures of managing energy, waste, biodiversity, and chemical usage.

The resort is slated for a late 2017 opening.
