Swiss luxury watchmaker Jaeger LeCoultre has announced Métiers Rares (rare handicrafts) watches that reflect the craftsmanship of the company’s Rare Crafts Atelier.
The 39mm Master Grande Tradition à Répétition Minutes is the first among the three wonders. It showcases on its dial a miniature painting that reminisces Van Gogh’s Starry Night. The work of skilled hands is reflected in the beauty of the miniature Rhone while the Calibre 942 automatic movement with a minute repeater. The two trebuchet hammers are patented and they strike sharply against the crystal gong that is made from a secret alloy. A single push button sets the masterpiece apart from conventional slide system. 437 parts work in unison to tell time through the work of art. It is equipped with a 40-hour power reserve. Only 18 pieces of the Master Grande Tradition à Répétition Minutes will be created, all in pink gold.
The 43mm Master Grand Tourbillion Enamel, as the name suggests, comes with a paillonné enamel dial that has gold specks decorating the deep blue backdrop. While the scatter looks random, it is the work of a practiced hand. The tiny sparkles are cut out of silver and yellow gold leaf. 302 parts and a Calibre 978 automatic movement make the watch up. It is equipped with an ultra-light titanium tourbillion and a 45-hour power reserve.
The final piece in the trinity is the Master Grande Tradition à Quantième Perpétuel 8 Jours SQ. This unique timepiece brings together the art of engraving, skeleton-working and enameling. It displays the date, the day of the week, the month, the year and the age of the moon in the most elaborate denotation you can imagine on a wristwatch. It will come with an incredible 8-day power reserve and a hand-wound Calibre 8765Q. Only 200 pieces of this watch will be produced.
