All About Vacheron Constantin's Overseas Tour at SIHH 2016

p/p pMany might have been surprised to learn of Swiss watchmaker Vacheron Constantinandrsquo;s collaboration with American photographer Steve McCurry. One is well-known for its high precision and heritage-infused timepieces, while the other is best known for his andlsquo;Afghan girlandrsquo; photograph. However, when you think about their individual legacies and the subtle parallels between the two fields, it seems only natural that the two would come together to portray the andldquo;spirit of travelandrdquo; that the Overseas collection embodies./p pandnbsp;/p pAt the press conference in SIHH, earlier this year, Juan Carlos Torres, CEO, Vacheron Constantin, stated, andldquo;Vacheron Constantin is one of the first companies to travel around the world. Itandrsquo;s part of the DNA of the brandandmdash;to meet others and link the brand with other countries. For us, the Overseas is the perfect collection that proves these values of the brand.andrdquo;/p pandnbsp;/p pAt SIHH, the Swiss maison unveiled the enriched Overseas collection, featuring their in-house movements along with other advancements. It also announced the Overseas Tourandmdash;a journey of 12 picturesque locations photographed by McCurry. Earlier this month, six of the 12 destinations were revealed: Padre Tembleque, Mexico; Grand Central, New York; Chand Baori, India; Leshan, China; Tsurunoyu, Japan; and Manufacture Vacheron Constantin, Geneva. Below are the excerpts from the Qandamp;A in Geneva./p p style="text-align: left;"andnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"andnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;emandnbsp;andnbsp; Overseas Chronograph/embr /br /strongTell us about the global photography project./strongbr /br /strongJuan Carlos Torres/strong: You have to understand that Vacheron Constantin and the Overseas [collection] is your partner during your journey. The objective and desire was to collaborate with an artistandmdash;somebody who can prove that travel is a part of your enrichment, and is a part of you growing yourself. And who better than one of the most famous travel reporters of the world, Steve McCurry, to attest to that. We asked him, he said yes, and immediately we started the project before he could say no. (laughs)br /br /strongSteve McCurry/strong: Photography is all about timing, itandrsquo;s all about precision, and itandrsquo;s all about craft. And watches are about timekeeping precision, but thereandrsquo;s also the beauty of the craft and how theyandrsquo;re madeandmdash;the aesthetic connection of watchmaking was really, for me, quite a profound experience. I think, [with] photography, the goal is to make pictures which will transcend time, which will be as interesting to look at 20 years, 50 years or 100 years later. The craftsmanship of these watches is that theyandrsquo;re timeless. br /br /strongThere is a similarity between photography and watchmaking, the craft and timelessness as you mentioned./strongbr /br /strongSM/strong: Well, watches, itandrsquo;s all about time. Photography is about finding the right moment, the right light, the right composition. All these elements in picture-taking have to come together, to tell a story, to make an impression, to make some emotion. I think the world of watches and watchmaking is similar. There is a rhythm and harmonyandmdash;and the craft; everything kind of conspires to create some extraordinary piece of machinery./p pandnbsp;/p pemPhotos: Steve McCurry/Vacheron Constantin/em/p pandnbsp;/p pstrongMore On/strong strongandgt;andgt;/strong stronga href="http://www.luxpresso.com/watches" target="_blank"Watches/a/strong/p
