Quintessence Yachts recently enlisted the help of the Aston Martin’s new consulting business to develop a yacht inspired by the historic British sports car brand. The result is the AM37, which has been revealed ahead of a market launch in late 2016.
The AM37 is a powerboat that stretches 37 feet in length and will be offered with three powertrain options. The standard AM37 will come with a pair of 370-horsepower Mercury diesel engines. Above this will be a pair of 430-hp Mercury gasoline engines and reserved for an AM37 S range-topper will be a pair of 520-hp Mercury gasoline engines. The AM37 S Quintessence quotes a top speed of 52 knots (approximately 60 mph).
In addition to being quick, the AM37 is loaded with technology. The user interface consists of multiple digital screens with the main unit being a 15-inch touchscreen. A number of the amenities can also be controlled remotely, such as the air conditioning, the fridge and even a coffee machine. There’s also an electronic anchor system and a swimming platform that at the push of a button juts out from the rear.
The hull is made of high-tech composite with epoxy resin and carbon structural parts. More carbon is used for a three-piece panel that covers up the cockpit. These automatically slide under the aft deck to uncover the cockpit and entrance to the cabin.
Quintessence is presenting the AM37 at the Milan Design Week, currently taking place in the Italian fashion capital.
