Hyatt Hotels Corporation will be expanding its recently launched Unbound Collection to include the Thompson Miami Beach hotel as its fifth property.
In its announcement of the purchase from Geolo Capital, Hyatt revealed plans to rebrand the hotel as the Confidante, a nod to the hotel’s long history in Miami. The deal, for an undisclosed price, is expected to close by the end of April.
“It will provide a playful and sophisticated backdrop, much like a friend’s beach house, where guests can get away and relax while enjoying the vibrancy and energy of Miami Beach,” said Maryam Banikarim, Hyatt’s global chief marketing officer.
Before opening in 2014 as the Thompson Miami Beach, the three-tower structure was once the Crown Hotel before being converted into apartments. The Confidante will offer guests 30 suites, two restaurants, pools, a rooftop spa, and a craft cocktail bar.
More than 35,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor venue space will also be available at the renamed hotel. The Unbound Collection includes hotels in cities across the globe such as Paris, Hawaii, and Carmelo, Uruguay.
