Food Review: A Seafood Affair at The Captain's Table in Mumbai

p/p pspan lang="EN-IN"There are food lovers; and then there are those passionate sea food lovers who cannot have their crab caked in any way other than what they swear by or they crave for. Our evening at The Captainandrsquo;s Table in Mumbaiandrsquo;s tony business district, BKC, was a result of one such a working day of sea food craving. Weandrsquo;ll tell you why you need to book your space on that andlsquo;deckandrsquo; at The Captainandrsquo;s Table pronto.andnbsp;/span/p pandnbsp;/p pspan lang="EN-IN"The evening set sailing with a refreshing cocktail; we sat sipping on it in a setting that was perfect for a day at the sea; all that we did miss was the setting sun. Rows of rigging ropes passed over to the other side on ceiling pulleys and the wheel of a ship add to the strategically created nautical effect at The Captainandrsquo;s Table./span/p pandnbsp;/p pspan lang="EN-IN"If youandrsquo;re a true blue gourmand, make sure you begin your meal withandnbsp;theandnbsp;Catalan Seafood Stewstrongandnbsp;/strongwhich is beautifully cooked rawas, squid, clams and prawns with tomatoes adding just the right tang of sourness. The flavours are topped with a dash of cream (of almond and parsley puree). The delicious lobster bisque (smooth, creamy lobster soup) doesnandrsquo;t lag far behind either. If mixed seafood doesnandrsquo;t float your boat, we totally recommend the bisque./span/p pspan lang="EN-IN"br //span/p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p p style="text-align: center;"andnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pspan lang="EN-IN"Once you are done dousing the soup and the salad (you could really go in for the Ika Mata or the Tuna Sashimi), you can move on to the small plates, we strongly recommend the mushroom galouti and kurkure (paneer, palak and goat cheese stuffed rolls) for vegetarians, while non-vegetarians can enjoy a generous serving of rawa crusted fish fry (with a choice of surmai or prawns served on a banana leaf) or butterfly prawns (stuffed with curry crab, served with a unique apricot ginger chutney)./span/p pspan lang="EN-IN"br //span/p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pspan lang="EN-IN"To complement the main course we dived straight towards the tandoor. You could pick the kasundi prawns or chamoula rawas to go with the sungtachi curry (Goan prawn curry cooked in a coconut and red chilli gravy with hog plum) or the ai gamberetti (baked Indian salmon and grilled prawn served with green pea mash and orange chilli sauce). You could even veer towards international flavours with the fennel and crab ravioli, lobster and cuttlefish risotto or the grilled snapper.andnbsp;/span/p pandnbsp;/p pspan lang="EN-IN"And, if all the seafood does manage to spare you some space to gratify your sweet tooth, do try out the carrot cake or the gianduja mousse; you could even stick to the traditional route and settle for the delicious shahi tukda served with glazed orange and berry sauce.andnbsp;andnbsp;/span/p pandnbsp;/p pA meal for two would cost around INR 3000 for two (without alcohol)./p pandnbsp;/p pstrongMore On andgt;andgt; a href="http://www.luxpresso.com/lifestyle/food-drink" target="_blank"Food/a/strong/p
