Food Review: Livinand#039; La Dolce Vita at the Yellow Bar All Day

p/p pNestled in the busy lane of suburban Mumbaiandrsquo;s Khar locality is the Yellow Bar All Day, a restaurant that serves authentic Italian and Mediterranean cuisines. The entrance to the restaurant is via a pathway whose ceiling is decorated with lights and potted artificial plants; it is built so to give its guests a feeling of walking in a lush garden. The pathway leads you to an al fresco area that exudes an old-school charm with an added touch of colour. The walls are adorned with beautifully carved marble art works. Breaking the theme are the splashes of yellow colour scattered without a patterns./p pbr /For those who aren't aprticularly fond of al fresco seating, the restaurant has two more optionsandmdash;a chic air-conditioned area with adorable cushions and bright lights and a club-cum-banquet in the basement fairly illuminated by UV light paintings. We, however, opted for the al-fresco space to enjoy our dinner./p pbr /Mumbai has many restaurants that serve international cuisines, but with the sole disappointment that they twist recipes to suit the Indian taste. Amidst the struggle between eateries to stay in the league, we a property as strong as the Yellow Bar All Day that serves authentic recipes curated by Chef Davide Cananzi./p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pWith the kind of menu laid out, we decided to trust the chef's instincts and opt for his suggestions right from the drinks to the desserts. Our evening started with sipping on the rosemary infused cucumber iced tea. After a long day at work, the tea served as a welcome burst of much-needed refreshment. However, to lovers of the Bloody Mary, we wouldn't reccomend it as it lacked the drink's characteristic spice./p pbr /Our dinner began with the savoury minestrone soup and the chicken and orange soup. We did miss the pasta and cheese bits in our minestrone; however, the taste was fair to say the least. The chicken and orange soup was divine. The orange tinge in the creamy chicken soup gave it a new dimension./p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pFor starters, we were served Fish Cakes, Shish Touk and Spicy Grilled Mushroom Skewers. We loved the smooth texture of the fish cakes; they beautifully melted in the mouth. The Shish Touk had morsel-sized tender boneless chicken pieces and diced bell peppers roasted on a skewer, served with a dollop of parsley yogurt dip./p pFor the main course, nothing could have been a better choice than the meatballs with arrabbiata sauce and the pumpkin ravioli. Although both the main course dishes had the same baseandmdash;the arrabbiata sauceandmdash;both the dishes held their own dimensions, flavours and textures. The meatballs were heavy and were served with a slice of toasted bread. On the other hand, the ravioli stuffed with grated pumpkin was light and flavourful. The pasta was rolled neither too fat nor too thin, and the stuffing was just the right amount./p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p pThe last leg of our meal was the chefandrsquo;s specialandmdash;the heavenly Tiramisu. It was both light and heavy at the same time; it had just the perfect amount of coffee that saved it from not tasting bitter. It was so light that a spoonful of it was a burst of divine flavours./p pbr /strongMore on andgt;andgt; a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.luxpresso.com/lifestyle/food-drink" target="_blank"Food andamp; Drink/a/strong/p
