Boasting all-wheel drive, integrated rear wheel steering and 680 horsepower from its naturally aspirated V12 power plant, the 2017 Ferrari GTC4Lusso will carry four people faster and more comfortably than any other car on the planet. Giving away a few details early before its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the GTC4Lusso is a major refresh from the FF I drove a couple of years ago and loved so much.
In addition to 30 more horsepower, the GTC4Lusso adds rear wheel steering to Ferrari’s innovative all-wheel drive system, electronic differential and their side slip control system to provide excellent all season traction with handling that’s even more precise than the FF.
Outside the GTC4Lusso has been significantly improved both aerodynamically and aesthetically. The new front grille has integrated air intakes to improve cooling efficiency. The air vents on side panel are a nod to the 330 GTC from the late 1960s. And there’s a roof-mounted rear spoiler and a new triple-fence diffuser to increase downforce. The combined effect of these features is a car that’s much slipperier than the FF. Ferrari Design refined the rear end to improve the lines without compromising interior space.
The best news in all of this is that the Ferrari V12 will live for another generation. The legendary engine will continue to deliver incredible power in a gorgeously designed package while sounding better than any other engine on the road today.
Am I looking forward to a future engagement with this four-seat Ferrari? The answer, of course, is “yes.”
