In a season where designers are addressing show scheduling and, in turn, what season they present and when, many are also rethinking the catwalk formula.
On Sunday, Diane von Furstenberg replaced her usual runway fanfare with what she called her Fall 2016 Experience. Showgoers were invited to the DVF headquarters in the Meatpacking District, where she also keeps her own apartment on the top floor. And instead of sitting static, guests were able to meander through three rooms, each representing a vignette of a woman’s life – from work, to travel and, fittingly for Valentine’s Day, to love.
It had an atmosphere of a drinks party, with Diane upstairs, shimmying on a sofa next to Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, while Karlie Kloss and Jourdan Dunn snaked around the dance floor in front of her.
