Food Review: The Real Gastronomic Fusion at Bombay Vintage

p/p pandnbsp;/p pIt has suddenly become a trend to relive the by-gone era; be it the Taj Tea House that brings back the concept of high-tea or the Sanctum furniture boutique that curates antique furniture to adorn your homes. The newly launched all-day diner and bar in Mumbai called Bombay Vintage is built on similar lines. Situated right opposite the renowned Regal cinema, this new diner is a rhetorical blend of Bombay from the 60s, serving an eclectic mix of Indian, American and Continental cuisines./p pandnbsp;/p pstrongDramatic Interiors/strong/p pThe ground floor sports a raw look with exposed iron beaks on the ceiling and wooden walls adorned with classic movie posters of strongMadhubala /strongand other legends. A wooden stairway connects it to the first floor with walls sporting vintage portraits and snapshots of Bombay back in the day, and a few artistically crafted copper plates. The seating, arranged in a retro dining style with chairs covered in velvet like upholstery and glass top tables with wooden stands, gives you a picture of the designerandrsquo;s affinity towards his local roots./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p p style="text-align: center;"emBombay Vintage/em/p pandnbsp;/p pstrongThe Unique Bite/strong/p pWe were surprised to see the menu which when read out of the ordinary. Like, when was the last time you were served andlsquo;makhni pastaandrsquo;? And, to our pleasant surprise the food was impeccably delicious. The menu is curated and prepared bystrong Chef Pradeep Rozario/strong whose unique fusion dishes are famous in Kolkata. What was served to us last night was a platter of unbelievably delectable dishes. Right from the Semabudana Croquette/em to the Memakhni Pasta/em, the emNeer Dosa Sukha Rolls /emand the emThai Biryani/em, every dish served was worth the time and efforts invested. In fact, bacon lovers should definitely try out the bacon wrapped prawns and the emPork Chops served with jacket potatoes, glazed veggies and apple sauce/em. Apart from the dishes, the menu also has an assortment of dips and sauces that, we reckon, are homemade./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p p style="text-align: center;"emChicken Roulade, Sundried Tomato Kulcha, Butter Masala Sauce/em/p pandnbsp;/p pRelishing emChicken Missal/em, emSabudana Risotto/em and emMalwani Burgers/em may come across as unusual, but the one thing you can be assured of is nothing that is served will go back untouched. Complementing each dish were well crafted cocktails, of which we loved the emBlackberry Virgin Mojito/em. The desserts brought the perfect closure to the night. The emChocolate Walnut Brownie kulfi/em, emJaggery pudding/em and the emMascarpone Sandwich (shahi tukda) served with Rabd/emi brought the perfect end to our sumptuous first review of 2016./p pandnbsp;/p pOn the whole, this is one diner that holds the power to convert even a non-foodie./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p p style="text-align: center;"emChocolate Walnut Brownie, Kulfi/em/p pandnbsp;/p pemA meal for two can easily fall anywhere between INR 2,000 andndash; INR 2,500/-.plus taxes./em/p pandnbsp;/p pstrongMore On andgt;andgt; a href="http://www.luxpresso.com/lifestyle/food-drink" target="_blank"Food andamp; Drink/a/strong/p
