St. Regis Hotels and Resorts is ushering in 2016 with the much-awaited debut of its property in Macau.
Owned by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., the latest St. Regis hotel is located in Cotai Central, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with more than 450 years of history and cultural exchange between China and Europe. With this hotel’s opening, St. Regis will elevate Macau’s luxury hospitality offerings through its dedication to service and experiential touchpoints.
Prime destination
St. Regis Macao is the largest property in the hotelier’s portfolio with 400 guest rooms and premier shopping, dining and entertainment, offering travelers a fully integrated resort destination. Macau has become a sought-after destination, offering guests more than 600 designer boutiques, award-winning gaming facilities, an array of nightlife and culinary experiences.
“The opening of the St. Regis Macao is another significant step in Macau being able to differentiate itself from other destinations and further enhances Macau’s ability to draw even more leisure tourists and business travelers from throughout the region and across the globe,” said Sheldon G. Adelson, chairman and executive officer of Las Vegas Corp. and Sands China Ltd., in a brand statement.
St. Regis Macao is owned by Venetian Orient Limited, an affiliate of Sands China Ltd.
Guests staying at the hotel will have “front row seats” to Macau events such as the International Fireworks Competition and the Macau Grand Prix. In addition, golfers can play on several nearby 18-hole international championship courses.
Within the property itself, the St. Regis Macao offers guests an exclusive take on the Bloody Mary, invented by the hotel in the 1900s, at the St. Regis Bar. The hotel also boasts a spa with an outdoor pool, deck space and private cabanas right in the center of the city.
The Macau opening marks St. Regis’ seventh property in Greater China. The new year will see openings in Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Malaysia, the Maldives, Changsha, China and Cairo, Egypt.
Starwood, the parent company of St. Regis, was recently purchased by Marriott International, creating the world’s largest hospitality conglomerate (see story).
