Airline Review: Over the Moon on Turkish Airlines' Business Class

p/p pThe moment you realise youandrsquo;re going to be flying across continents with your journey punctuated by a stopover at an international airport for an awkwardly brief three-four hours, before you fly out again for what would last more than 10 hours, letandrsquo;s be real, it isnandrsquo;t the best of news. It wasnandrsquo;t for me either. But every passing hour of my business class journey with Turkish Airlines, onboard the Boeing 777-300ER, transformed by opinion of long haul flights; and rightly so. With their impeccable hospitality, the comforts and a lounge like the Business Class CIP Lounge at the Istanbul Airport, life hardly leaves you reasons to brood over.br /br /The first leg of our journey began with our almost six-hour long flight to Istanbul. We were scheduled to fly out at the break of dawn; and just when the sleep deprivation was catching up, we were ushered into the large, chic business class cabin that almost instantly put my tired nerves to rest. We were pleasantly surprised by the fully reclining seatsandmdash;(that would straighten out completely to convert into beds; in fact, passengers can even request flight attendants to set it up for them)andmdash;aligned in the 2-3-2 sequence and ample aisle space. Each seat is accompanied by an ottoman sort of a structure ideal to rest our feet on, apart from adequate space to stuff footwear in. With a chilled flute of freshly squeezed orange juice and a crew that was unarguably one of the warmest weandrsquo;ve experienced, we started our slightly slow yet unforgettable journey. While the pace onboard was just right for a flight scheduled for that early a morning, we were more than happy to unwind before the Miami rush set in./p pandnbsp;/p pAfter a hearty breakfast and some sound sleep, we touched base in Istanbul. Now, on a different occasion on another day, one would dread a layover; but we, for one, were more than excited to experience Turkish Airlinesandrsquo; award-winning Business Class CIP Lounge spread over two floors, sprawled over 60,000 sq ft. Nestled in one corner of the humongous Istanbul Atatanduuml;rk Airport, exuding the warmth of Turkish hospitality, this expansive lounge house has a cinema, live food counters, library, kidsandrsquo; corner, locker room, billiard tables, showers and suites and massage beds./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pWe began our gastronomic affair at the lounge in the reverse order, beginning with a generous serving of delicious pastries and mouth-watering traditional Turkish baklavas complemented by freshly squeezed fruit juices. We soon moved on to the delectable array of mini pizzas and meat grilled to perfection by the chefs in the live kitchen. And just in case the food trail across the lounge tires you out, you can sit back at your table and have the masseuse on the round give you a soothing massage while you sip on some warm Turkish tea, overlooking the minarets adorning the Istanbul skyline at a distance with the pianist keying in some live music in the background. Apart from displays keeping you up-to-date with your flight schedule, travellers also have access to TV news channels and meeting rooms that are ideal for those who canandrsquo;t afford to miss a video conference or teleconference on the go.andnbsp;andnbsp; br /br /Soon it was time for us to bid adieu to this beautiful space and hop onto our long haul flight from Istanbul, a direct journey straight to the contagiously energetic city of Miami. Another Boeing 777-300ER; although the experience in terms of on-flight amenities was the same as our first flight, a journey like ours would surely delight every gourmand of the world. With a flying chef onboard, we were treated to some of the best meals especially curated for the business class passengers. Our most memorable meal was undoubtedly the delicious Adana Kebab served with grilled tomato and pepper and bulgur pilaf. While the main course was sumptuous to say the least, we just couldnandrsquo;t wait to indulge our sweet tooth with the dessertandmdash;the white chocolate and mascarpone pavlova. Yes, it was by far one of the best weandrsquo;ve had! They also served an assortment of fruits, ice cream and other Turkish delicacies. Apart from the important meals, cheese, sandwiches and other titbits were served through the duration of the flight./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pAdding to our delicious experience was the sheer privilege to sit back and watch an intriguing collection of movies or play games available on the touch screen entertainment system./p pandnbsp;/p pWith a gratified heart and a relaxed mind, our flight on Turkish fuelled us up for a trip of a lifetime.andnbsp; Long flights can especially tire you out for the simple lack of basic luxuries. But, business class on Turkish Airlines ensures you feel and travel like the privileged do. And, just before we descended, they made sure the trip ended on a rather sweet note with what seems like their trademarkandmdash;a little Godiva goodie. Indeed, we earned an experience we wonandrsquo;t forget in a long, long time./p pandnbsp;/p pstrongMore on andgt;andgt; a href="http://luxpresso.com/topic/travel" target="_blank"Travel/a/strong/p
