Live Like Royalty: Queen Elizabeth II’s Ancestral Estate Is On The Market For $43 Million

Woolmers Park, located in Hertfordshire, England, was once owned by Queen Elizabeth’s grandparents and the current Queen spent many childhood days on the 232-acre estate. The estate was a hub of equestrian activity for the royal family, and it was here that the Queen was gifted with her first pony, a shaggy Shetland named ‘Peggy,’ at the age of four. Now the historic and storied estate is on the market for the first time since 1997, meaning that it is now up-for-grab for even non-royals.

The focal point of the estate is a massive Georgian mansion which includes all the finery one expects to find in an aristocratic estate after watching so many Merchant Ivory films and episodes of Downton Abbey. There’s a grand staircase, a lush dining room with a crystal chandelier and fireplace, and five separate reception rooms all decked out in aristocratic style.

Also on the estate are eight cottages, an outdoor pool, a leisure complex with an indoor pool, immaculately maintained English gardens, hunting and fishing grounds, more than one tennis court, and a stable and other polo and equestrian facilities. The entire 70,000 square foot property is privately fenced in, making it an oasis of luxury.

Currently Woolmers Park is available for $43 million.
