Wendell Rodricks Closes Textile Day with Live Mannequins at LFW SS16

p/p pandnbsp;/p pNo ramp walk, no showstopperandmdash;all that we witnessed at veteran designer strongWendell Rodricksandrsquo;/strong show last evening at the strongLakmandeacute; Fashion Week /strongwas models standing like mannequins on blocks in the seating area while visitors moved to the centre stage to view the collection. Unlike Anand Kabra, who displayed his collection with mannequins last year, Wendell chose 20 models to don his bright silk designs and pose while the celebrated strongShillong Chamber Choir/strong sang in the background./p pandnbsp;/p pWhile guests took to the ramp to watch the models rotate in their allocated space, the whole set up made for a beautiful presentation, celebrating the richness of Indian textile and maintaining the decorum and discipline of the fashion week. Rooted in heritage, his designs saw emghagras /emrevamped into capes, empajamas /eminto off shoulder blouses, emdhotis /emmorphed into emsaris/em, emcholis /emhit the floor, capes draped over emkurtas /emand saris hand-woven in bright colours such as fuchsia, ivory, pomegranate, indigo, emjamun /empurple, peacock blues and greens, turquoise, emhaldi /emyellow and saffron gold. The collection also featured the classic touch of emkhadi/em-cotton, silk emtussar/em, emmugha/em, noile, dupione and organza, which added glamour to the minimalistic yet sartorial fashion exhibition. What added to this museum like experience was the catalogue handed over to each guest at the entrance which decoded the making of every look displayed./p pandnbsp;/p p style="text-align: center;"/p pandnbsp;/p pandnbsp;/p p"I reinvented what was expected of me with this collection.
