Mauritius’s oldest hotel closed on 10th June 2017 for a four month renovation which will see a complete refurbishment of all the bungalows and pavilions, restaurants and communal areas to bring to life this historic hotel’s unique laid back, boho chic charm.
La Pirogue Resort & Spa is one of the first hotels in Mauritius, last year celebrating its 40th anniversary. By effortlessly fusing old and new, La Pirogue exudes bohemian spirit serving as the perfect escape to those seeking laid-back island living. The beautifully renovated hotel features 248 charming ground floor rooms tucked away in thatched cottages, including 46 Beach Pavilions and 2 Senior Suite Pavilions.
The unrivalled location on the west coast of Mauritius boasts one of the best beaches in the Indian Ocean and is matched by picture-perfect views and sunsets of the world heritage mountain Le Morne. Guests of La Pirogue look out from their private terrace to the largest coconut grove on the island, and are just steps away from the pristine turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.
The new interiors in the thatch-roofed bungalows and pavilions feature white stone-walled bedrooms inspired by traditional Mauritian architecture, natural bamboo and driftwood accepts, soft lighting and splashes of colourful soft furnishings. Wicker chairs and vintage inspired-hanging lamps accentuate the laid back, boho chic vibe present throughout the resort.
Unique to Mauritius, La Pirogue will be home to its very own music studio offering guests the opportunity to record tracks, albums and learn about the full music production process. The fully equipped professional digital recording studio has dedicated time slots for guests both under and over 12 years of age to use the studio, so the whole family can participate. In addition, age relevant workshops on the sound and music production are available for guests.
La Pirogue will offer guests a wide selection of dining options, bars and activities as well as a spa featuring Hammam treatments. There are a whole host of activities available to guests free of charge to include; kayaking, glass bottom boat rides, windsurfing, paddle boarding, water polo, laser sailing, yoga, badminton, mini golf, beach volleyball and more.
The Sun Kids Club caters for children aged 2-11 and is open 12 hours a day between 9am – 5pm and 6pm – 10pm. The spacious club with indoor and outdoor facilities offers numerous activities including tennis, windsurfing, swimming, excursions and special kids’ menus. Additionally, unlike many other resorts in Mauritius, La Pirogue offers a Teens Club available to 12 – 17 year olds with specially designed activities for teens such as sports, excursions and party nights.
